Adeje’s department of education, under councillors Adolfo Alonso Ferrera and Coraima Afonso Navarro, working with the departments of economy and employment led by councillors Mercedes Delgado Vargas and Alberto Álvarez Jiménez, and of municipal workers under councillor Epifanio Díaz Hernández, have been busy renovating, carrying out repairs, and decorating Adeje’s public schools and centres before the academic year begins.
The works have seen an investment of €150,000 (materials and labour) including teams working on local social employment schemes.
This year, the council’s focus was on safety of the facilities, energy efficiency and sustainability, the enhancement of green spaces, infrastructure accessibility, and efficient water management.
Work in the public educational centres also focussed on the creation and maintenance of communal spaces, improvements to playgrounds, sports halls, and courts, maintenance of green areas, classroom flooring, window replacements, and the installation of protective barriers in children's areas.
Various works have been carried out in all schools, including masonry, painting, gardening, plumbing, locksmithing, damp repairs, paving, signage, the installation of railings, and aluminium placement, among others.
