The teaching staff of the municipal nursery school ‘Duendecillo Azul’ has taken part in a course on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), the use of semi-automatic defibrillators, and First Aid. The main aim of the activity was to update and educate the team in addressing the most significant incidents that can occur in nursery schools, such as falls, injuries, poisonings, febrile seizures, choking, haemorrhages, allergic reactions, burns, epilepsy, or cardiorespiratory arrests, among others.

The recommended care for each case is designed to assist children aged between 16 weeks and 3 years. In addition to the theoretical part, the course included a practical session in which the teaching and managerial staff could perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a mannequin simulating a baby.

This course was organised by the departments of health, infant eduction, and education, under councillors Esther Rivero Vargas, Coraima Afonso Navarro, and Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, respectively.

The teaching staff of the El Duendecillo Azul Nursery School have training in safety and are well-versed in the protocols for handling risk situations in the centre. However, protocols for dangerous situations in childcare centres are regularly updated and the council considers it vital to hold annual courses on CPR and first aid for those attending to the children on a daily basis.
