The Praxis Project is designed to improve employment prospects for under 35s

The programme will focus on a number of aspects, including social integration, for those with qualifications seeking work in Adeje

24 october 2022
The Adeje department of economic development and job creation, with the University of La Laguna Foundation, have launched a project aimed at helping those who have been awarded a third level university or professional qualification within the last 5 years. The aim is to improve the employment prospects of these individuals and also improve the overall business network in Adeje, generating highly qualified jobs for the borough.

Raquel Rodríguez Alonso, councillor for the department, said the project was designed to meet certain needs in the borough’s population following an analysis of the area.  Councillor Manuel Luis Méndez Martín said project users “would be able to acquire skills necessary to find their place in the labour market and follow their professional path in line with their qualifications. The project values local talent and will help those who have completed their studies to pursue the career they have chosen.”

Alexis Betancor from the ULL said the initiative worked well with other projects the council were currently advancing in conjunction with the university.

The course is online and in person, and will have three basic blocks. The first section with work with students on preparing CVs, interviews, work practises, in teams, leadership, non-verbal communications, etc. The second section will look at personal and professional development with individual and group attention and sessions.  The third part will see students on work placements which should help students aim for a job in line with their qualifications, and students will receive some payment during this time, and the possibility of future employment after a 5-month period.

To apply for the course students must be under 35 years of age and have a qualification at university or similar professional level.  They must have been resident in Adeje for at least the last 6 months and registered as seeking work.

This project is funded by Adeje council and lasts 12 months.  More information here: https://fg.ull.es/empleo/praxis/#1666085900405-04b0310c-7f74
