The Adeje ‘Cacharros’ de Adeje Contest celebrates its twelfth edition

The main criteria for the creations were that they were based on recycling, sustainability, creativity, originality, and its effectiveness in raising awareness

18 december 2023
Adeje’s departments of Culture and Education, under councillors Adolfo Alonso Ferrera and Coraima Alonso Navarro, the municipal refuse company ASCAN-Torrabonaf, and Aqualia Entemanser, presented the awards to winners of the XII Cacharros Contest, also marking International Day of Educating Cities.

During the event, attended by the participating students and their families, the jury's report commended the level, quality and creativity of the works presented.  The main criteria for the presentation of the creations were that they were based on recycling, sustainability, their creativity, originality and effectiveness in raising awareness. The winning creations are on display in the Adeje Cultural Centre, open from 8 am to 8 pm, Monday to Friday.

The councillors said that "this year the theme was 'FamiliarizArte', through which we wanted to underline the important role of families in the community and encourage everyone to think about the measures and sustainable actions we can undertake individually and collectively to improve the quality of life and promote good living in our neighbourhoods.”

The winning students, 36 in total, came from Adeje’s public primary schools.  The prizes consisted of vouchers of €60, €40 and €25 for first, second and third place, respectively, as well as a diploma. Three runners-up prizes were also awarded per school, students receiving a gift and a diploma. All winning students were given a family voucher to attend a children's show during the Christmas holidays in the Adeje Auditorium.
