Adeje council’s Department of equality, under councillor José Antonio López Delgado, is continuing to offer training courses in equality and currently is preparing an online free 20 hour basic-level course on equality.

“The success of the third edition of our Equality School generated such interest that the council is looking at further courses that allow for awareness-raising and increasing knowledge regarding the issues”, said the councillor.

The course includes theory manual, individual activities – one for each theme within the module - and a final evaluation of the contents of the course.  Training will be via the municipal platform, Adeje Global.  Among the themes to be discussed will be basic concepts of equality, socialisation, new masculinity ideas, gender violence, roles in the home, prevention of domestic violence and relationship violence, equality of opportunities, and the politics of equality of opportunities, among others.

There will be a final evaluation at the end of the course, and to be granted a diploma participants will have to have completed all the course activities and the final evaluation.

Online self-defence course for women
The council is also running an online self-defence course for women, with state funding aid.  The councillor commented, “This course concentrates on what you can control before and at the point of attack, tactics, concepts that be easily adapted and assimilated.  Those who sign up will receive a weekly video, written course material and practice advice”.
