Campus América comes to Adeje!

Adeje is hosting three workshops on entrepreneurship under the umbrella of Campus América

18 october 2022
During this morning, October 18th, Campus América was introduced by Adeje, a space where international relations in Adeje can be consolidated as well as being a forum for co-operation between Latin American universities and the University Of La Laguna (ULL).

This is an international project of the ULL with the support of the regional Canarian government, the Tenerife Cabildo and the Town Halls of Adeje and San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The workshops are mirroring the interest shown by Canarian society in maintaining and strengthening relations with America.  It is also an expression of a commitment to social and cultural values through co-operation.

During the presentation of the campus the Adeje mayor said, “the links between (Latin) America and the Canary islands is reflected in our history, with many emigrating in earlier times to seek their fortune and a better future”.  Today, he said, we need to explore all the social alternatives available at international co-operative levels, links with the continent that we will celebrate, as we share a language, and as Adeje is open to integration and internationalisation, all elements which also favour entrepreneurship.

Lidia Cabrera, vice-president of the international section of the ULL said the idea for Campus América was born in 2017, and this is the third edition, “seeking to continue the links between universities in America and the ULL, creating a virtual university network which can also lead to training and investigative exchanges and offer full time educational courses online”.  She said there was also assistance and international cooperation in science, technology and other areas which allow students learn from an international standpoint.

The first workshop is on October 19th in the Adeje Cultural Centre, ‘Mujeres con propósito’, with Arlen Duarte Montoya, an entrepreneur and networker from Nicaragua. She will be examining tools for improving work opportunities, and looking at spiritual, emotional and psychological implications. This workshop is principally about motivating women to push through their proposals and to empower them.

The dates for the other two workshops have yet to be finalised –they are “Cambia-T: Cómo ser feliz emprendiendo. ¿Qué ayuda y qué no? given by Leocadio Martón Borges, an expert in personal change and emotional management and considered one of the most experienced  Spanish-speaking psychologists in the field.  The course is about learning and identifying your emotions and how to apply them to your work situation, negotiations, etc., and ‘Design Thinking para emprendedores’, given by Sonia García Fariña, a consultant and visual thinker with Senet Consultores. This will look at creativity as the key in training, use of Design Thinking, and how it applies to different negotiations.
