As Fitur, the Spanish tourism trade fair, comes to an end, the overall mood in the Adeje delegation is one of positivity following meetings with public and private sector bodies and tour-operators.

Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga also said that this year Fitur had proved the value of the AMTC, the association of Canarian tourism municipalities, created 5 years ago, of which he currently president.  The AMTC held many top level meetings with national department heads and ministers to promote tourism needs in the islands, and has become, he says, an important representative body in this regard.   “I would like to thank both the national tourism minister Reyes Maroto, and the regional tourism minister Yaiza Castilla for always being there to discuss matters of importance and for understanding that this is an important advance and helps us in working on joint projects”.

The association have recently acquired funding through “Next Generation”, a regional project in decarbonisation and modernisation.

Adeje’s tourism councillor was also very positive about the value of attending this year’s trade fair, and returns to Tenerife with a sense of positivity for the year ahead, that “we are recovering the tourism pulse and see good indicators that we can return to the kind of numbers we saw pre-pandemic”.

Prada Museum and the Adeje Virgen de Guadalupe statue
As well as concentrating on tourism talks, the Adeje delegation also included the councillor for heritage, Desiderio Afonso.  “We also like to see our heritage promoted as part of our attraction, alongside sports and gastronomy.  Slowly but surely we are becoming known as a cultural hub with a lot to offer”, commented the mayor.
Desiderio Afonso and the mayor visited the ‘Tornaviaje’ exhibition at the Prada Museum, featuring works of value from all over Spain, including Adeje.  The Adeje sculpted statue of the ‘Virgin de Guadalupe’ is part of the exhibition, and was visited by the mayor and the councillor at the end of their stay in Madrid.
