Adeje Council values the social work carried out during the year of the pandemic

On the occasion of World Social Work Day Rodríguez Fraga highlights this service as essential during the health crisis

16 march 2021
Adeje’s mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, on World Social Work Day, March 16th, has spoken about the value of the work carried out by the areas linked to this area during the year in particular, given the pandemic we have lived through. “It has been a terrible year on many levels, and we have seen first-hand the services that have been revealed as essential to maintaining the well-being of families and leaving no one behind. Together with police, municipal services and communication, social services were decreed as indispensable by the council during the first lockdown subsequent months. This is also reflected in our recent budget estimates, where a significant amount is allocated to the social emergency services”.

Councillor for community welfare, Mercedes Vargas Delgado, commented that it has been a “very hard year, with tough days, where council staff, especially those assigned to municipal social services, have worked non-stop, we have established synergies with NGOs and associations to be able to reach all people, whether or not they were registered because we understood that it was and is an exceptional situation, a global crisis where all of us must rise to the occasion. Today in particular I want to thank all the professionals involved for their effort and tenacity”.

Adeje council has created a series of grants, administered through the community welfare area.
