Adeje campus will host students doing pre-university exams

The measure is to allow 4,500 students take their exams in safety and has been approved by the government

For the first time the University of La Laguna will allow students to sit their EBAU (evaluación de Bachillerato para el Acceso a la Universidad) or pre-university exams in three different centres in Tenerife, Adeje for students in the south of the island, Anchieta for those in the north, and Guajara for those in the metropolitan area.

The change in location is made as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, to allow the 4,500 students sitting the exam to do so in safety and with the required distance between them and other students.  Over the coming days students will receive information confirming exactly where they will be sitting their exams, which begin in July.

The rector of the University of La Laguna, Rosa María Aguilar, confirmed, “the exams that are being held from July 1st to 4th will be in Guajara, Anchieta and Adeje, to guarantee the hygienic necessities for students as part of our battle against Covid-19”.

Adeje mayor Jose Miguel Rodríguez Fraga said this was good news for students in the south of the island, adding that the “Adeje campus is prepared to welcome students from the south….and we can guarantee the security measures will be in place”.

The three centres will also be used by those students coming from other islands in the province.   The decision to hold the exams over a number days rather than on one single day was taken a few weeks ago by the organisers to avoid a large congregation of thousands of students, again the primary reason being to guarantee their health and safety.
