Adeje recently hosted a meeting of the ‘Centro de la Familia’ (Family Centre). The main aim of the meeting, attended by political and trained staff representatives from the south of Tenerife, was to highlight the different proposals and initiatives promoted by the centre itself, as well as the collaboration that can be provided by councils in South Tenerife.

Adeje’s councillor for Social Welfare, Raquel Rodríguez Alonso, said that the "meeting was convened at the request of the centre itself with the goal of joining forces and synergies for the benefit of families".

Another of the issues addressed at this meeting was support for regional projects whose ultimate aim is the promotion, support and welfare of families.  Members of the centre explained to those present that there is a need for a new headquarters for the centre in the south of the island, as this will enable a substantial improvement in the services offered from a psychosocial and psycho-family point of view.

With more than 39 years in existence, and more than 100,000 services provided to families throughout the Canary Islands, the centre is a non-profit foundation, recognised as a public utility entity, dedicated to managing numerous psychosocial programmes and services, as well as the importance of strengthening family ties and the emotional wellbeing of those involved.
