This morning, April 5th, the Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, received the winning ‘Sol Repsol’ chefs. The Sol Repsol award is given as a recognition of culinary excellence and the overall experience offered by a restaurant, and is considered to be equivalent to the Michelin stars in Spain.

In Adeje there are currently 11 Sol Repsol awards in seven of the municipality’s restaurants.  Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga said, "we recognise the importance of gastronomy as a vital component shaping the quality tourist destination that is Costa Adeje. Gastronomy is one of the elements that is becoming increasingly important in the tourist experience, which is also another of the attractions of our destination".

One of the restaurants, El Rincón de Juan Carlos, has already won three awards.  Located in the Royal Hideaway hotel in La Caleta and run by brothers Juan Carlos and Jonathan Padrón, it is currently the only restaurant in the Canary Islands with more than two such awards to its credit, certainly making the restaurant a gastronomic  reference point in the archipelago.

In 2024, 4 new titles have been awarded to several restaurants that create culinary magic in Adeje. Chef Babacar Fall heads up the kitchen in Char in La Caleta, receives his first Sol, as do Niki Pavanelli and Riccardo della Bella, working in Il Bocconcino and San-Ho’s chef Adrián Bosch, all restaurants also located in the Royal Hideaway hotel.

Rubñen Cabrera has received his second award for the gastronomy at La Cúpula, in the Jardines de Nivaria hotel.  The other holders of the Repsol Sol awards are Nub (Andrea Bernardi and Fernanda Fuentes) and Kenei (Victor Planas), both located in the Bahía del Duque hotel.
