Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, lead the of official welcoming party at the arrival of The Three Kings of the Orient this afternoon, as they landed in the municipal football grounds shortly after 5pm. Over 4,000 people were in the stadium to welcome the royal guests.

“For another year, and on behalf of the children of Adeje and the good people of this part of the island, in Adeje, I am delighted to welcome you to the most magical evening of the year”, the mayor said. He added that the children of Adeje were blessed to have the gift of families that cared for them, who educated them and reared them to also be good people. The children were also lucky to have the gift of good teachers, friendship, and a place where they were always welcomed, he said.

Rodríguez Fraga also remembered children who were not able to be with family, children from Ukraine for example, and other conflict zones, or who were living in poverty. “We live in the hope that a better world is possible, we have to strive for that, a world that is more equal, peaceful, where children, boys and girls, are equal, where we respect the environment, each other, and where we work to make each other happy”.

The Adeje department of Culture, under councillor María Clavijo Maza, has spent many months preparing for this evening, one that is particularly special given the last two years of the pandemic. “This is a day for hope, for happiness and magic….we want everyone to enjoy themselves, create special memories this evening”, she said.

Following the reception, the Kings prepared to take part in the parade up the Calle Grande to the Plaza España where they paid homage to the Infant Jesus. They have also had time to collect the last letters from the children of the town.
