Adeje's council’s Department of tourism, under Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, has invested over €800,000 in cultural events over the course of 2022.  With the investment they have provided a wide and varied programme of events that have been seen by over 20,000 people, tourists and residents alike.

Adolfo Alonso indicated that “the local council has prioritised a focus on tourism promotions that bring new and loyal visitors to our shores, and we are always working to amplify the cultural offer for our residents in Adeje too. In this way Costa Adeje, as well as being a ‘blue destination’ – sea and sun – has the added value of a varied cultural programme of events which can often make the difference to someone deciding where to go on holidays.

This year the programme of events have included concerts, including huge Spanish artists like Alejandro Sanz, and the Tenerife Fashion Beach Costa Adeje, with a host of international designers talking part.   “The strategy is to have a range of activities – not just music – which meet different cultural likes and needs, including Canarian folklore, theatre, and of course our Christmas programme which has already begun” commented the councillor.

Just recently Costa Adeje hosted the Mayantigo Folklore World Fest and a street craft fair, working with the Adeje Municipal Folklore School, Canarias Crea and the Tenerife Cabildo.  “We want our visitors to know a little bit about who we are too; a little bit more about the place they have chosen for their holidays”.

Concerts throughout the year have included pop, jazz, classical music, and gospel among others.  Golf Costa Adeje hosted Costa Adeje Classics, the Mujeres World Fest, and Black Sound Costa Adeje and next year there are some more great concerts lined up.

For Christmas the Costa Adeje Christmas Fair will be on from December 6th to 8th in the Plaza Salytien. Other dates of note will be a gospel concert in Callao Salvaje on December 17th, a Christmas Concert in Calle Unterhaching on December 21st, and the ‘Farewell 2022 Concert Costa Adeje’ on December 30th in Plaza Salytien with the GC Big Band & Natalia Palacios, with a homage to Ella Fitzgerald. “Our annual offer of events is designed to complement what the private sector is also offering visitors and residents.  What is important is that all of us involved in tourism play our part in making Costa Adeje somewhere that is different and attractive as a destination. We saw this during the Nightlife Congress held here this week.  Along with CEST and other councils who have worked together with us, we are rolling out future initiatives together”, the councillor remarked.
