This week the Hotel GF Victoria hosted the Rallye Villa Costa Adeje press conference to announce details of this year’s racing which will also see the Spanish Super-champion crowned as well the Canarian, provincial and inter-island titles decided.

The president of the Adeje Rallye team Poli Delgado gave details of the various competitions, routes, timings, etc.  Members of councils from all the participating boroughs, and their sports councillors were in attendance, including Adolfo Alonso, the Adeje councillor, and the mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga.  Alonso said the rally ticked four important boxes, “sport, a fabulous spectacle, promoting the destination and generating income for the local economy. The promotion of the destination is also not simply as a result of the people who are arriving to take part, but also through the exterior coverage of the event…this is an investment, not a cost”, he added.

Pedro Martin, president of the Tenerife Cabildo, said that this was a very important inter-borough cooperative project, and was “proud, as president of the Cabildo, to see how all the different town councils are able to unite to work on a project that benefits us all and the island”.

Closing the official act José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga also stressed the importance of events such as this for tourism, and welcomed the economic benefits it brings to the boroughs.  “We are, today, so much more than a sun and beach destination, offering gastronomy, sport, culture, etc. to our visitors. We in Adeje are delighted to continue to assist in the staging and promotion of this event as it is of benefit for all concerned”.
