The third-generation cheese making family diary, Queseria Montesdeoca, located in Tijoco Bajo, in Adeje, won two golds and a bronze at the World Cheese Awards in Wales last week,

"We are pleased and proud to have accomplished such wins this year on an international level, especially at such tumultuous times with global crisis, conflicts, rising costs and more competitors to deal with," says 3rd generation cheese maker, Alberto Montesdeoca Garcia.

Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga congratulated the team, adding, “This is a source of pride for Adeje, to be home to a family firm, cheesemakers, with so many awards nationally and internationally, a reflection of the talent we have in the borough, and the dedication the people of Adeje show to the work they do”.

"This is our 24th medal from this reputable competition, having won the prestigious Super Gold in previous years for our Cured Goat cheese with Oregano, and it tells us that judges and consumers have a preference for sharper-tasting cheeses from the Canary Islands. Our cheeses which have matured and cured longer are always crowd pleasers,” added Alberto. "We are lucky to be located in such a beautiful part of the world, with native goats and stable weather.
This alongside unique Canary Island recipes and ingredients such as Gofio and even Higo de Cactus, gives our cheese a distinct character that stands out of the crowd.”

MEDALS
Gold: Queso de Cabra Curado con Gofio; Queso Curado de Cabra, Vaca y Oveja Añejo.
Bronze: Queso de Cabra y Oveja Curado con Gofio
