Tomorrow, June 14th, Adeje celebrated World Blood Donation Day.  This year Adeje has been the provincial HQ for blood donation in the Canarian islands, encouraging everyone to joint “the red energy” brigade, with campaigns in education and health centres and other public places, collecting this vital fluid for use in our public hospitals.

The Adeje mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, is invited everyone who is can to donate blood tomorrow in the Adeje Cultural Centre between 9:30am and 1.15pm and 4.30pm and 7.30pm

The mayor also thanked all those who have already donated during the campaign, “this is a way of donating life to someone, and I would like to acknowledge the important part institutions, schools and private bodies and associations have played contributing”, he said.

Adeje’s councillor for health, Amada Trujillo Bencomo underlined, “blood is essential for all health systems, even with huge technological advances, and is only available through voluntary donations and the altruism of the public”.

The Monday and Tuesday the Adeje Town Hall and the Plaza España will be lit in red to mark Blood Donation Day.  To donate you must be between 16 and 65 years old (or 60 if it is the first time you are donating), weigh more than 50 kilos, be in a good state of health, and you should book an appointment first by calling 922.75.62.57 or 676.607.578.
