Costa Adeje Classics returns to Tenerife this Saturday with a concert starring international Tenerife tenor Jorge de León, accompanied by soprano Rocío Ignacio and pianist Juan Francisco Parra, taking place in Golf Costa Adeje, 9pm.   Attendees will also have a chance to sample gastronomy of the zone.

Attending a press conference to announced details of the concert today in the Hotel Royal Hideaway Corales Suites were Jorge de León, Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, Adeje tourism councillor Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, and Paula Concepción from Xenox Producciones

De León, who many years ago worked in Adeje as a policeman, said this concerts “feels like coming home, and I have the excellent fortune to be doing so in the company of such great fellow international artists, Rocío Ignacio and Juan Francisco Parra.  I am really excited about being here and feel very emotional about the concert”.

The tenor added, “The concert repertoire will be delightful with many numbers we have performed around the world.  I am hoping the concert will be like giving the people of Adeje a musical hug.  I also want to thank everyone for the interest in the concert, with nearly all the tickets sold – which is something considering the concert coincides with an important CD Tenerife football match (which we hope they win!)”.

Mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga told press, “This concert, with Costa Adeje Classics, is part of a cultural menu which we hope will be of interest to tourists looking for cultural experiences of high quality.  But it is also very much for the local resident population, for the people of Adeje, who want and ask for concerts of this kinds, lovers of classical music”.

The mayor also said that they had been looking to stage a concert with Jorge de León for a long time, “he might be a world-class tenor but for us he is also an ‘Adejero’, as he lived and worked in our town for many years. Jorge is someone who is very much in the hearts of the people of Adeje and it is an honour to be able, at last, to see him perform here”.

Tourism councillor Adolfo Alonso added that the concert was part an overall programme of cultural diversification in the tourism offer that the council have been working on, “with many more events to come in the coming months”.

Paula Concepción underlined how the format of the concert is designed to appeal to the public.  “We have brought together three elements that create perfect harmony – a musical programme, gastronomy and the incredible surroundings, creating a unique experience in Costa Adeje.  We have chosen a stage where the musical magic and the setting with the incredible climate, just beside the sea, will entrance the audiences enjoying the music as the sun sets”.

Jorge de León is one of the most recognised voices in top musical theatres today.  He has appeared in the Vienna Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Arena in Verona, Massimo in Palmero, the Berlin German Opera, the Met in New York, the New National Theatre in Tokyo and major Spanish theatres including the Teatro Real in Madrid.

He ranks among the finest present-day Spanish singers, thanks primarily to his easy high register and his unerring technique.  He has taken leading roles, such as Radamès (Aida), Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana) and Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca).

Rocío Ignacio has an extensive international range of roles under her belt, and has sung in the Liceo, the Palacio de Artes in Valencia, and in Italy in Verona, Turin, Florence and Rome.

Juan Francisco Parra has played many concerts with the Gran Canarian Philharmonic Orchestra here and abroad.

For those attending the concert there will be a free bus transport to and from the concert site from the Hotel Royal Hideaway Corales Suite running from 7.35pm to 8.30pm, and from the Adeje School of Music from 7.15om to 8pm, with return journeys after the concert finishes.
