Tajea courses are beginning this week

The aim is to improve job opportunities for women in the borough

Courses under the “Tajea” umbrella, which are designed to improve employment possibilities for women in the borough, have begun this week. The initiative was created by the departments of job creation, under Raquel Rodriguez Alonso, and Equality under Juan Desiderio Afonso Ruiz,  and will run over a year.

“This is an opportunity to continue the work towards equality of opportunities among women and men, above all in the areas of work that up to now have been considered part of a male domain”; said Afonso Ruiz.

The project is co-financed by the Tenerife Cabildo and over the year will include individual tutorials where women can create a particular path towards a place on the workforce. There will be specialised workshops and job-seeking skill enhancements, as well as training in awareness of equal opportunity rights.

The initiative will concentrate on different women’s groups – rural women, migrants, single mothers, domestic violence survivors, those with functional diversity issues, etc.  All the courses are free and classes are held in the CDTCA and the Adeje Cultural Centre.
