Adeje’s department for economic development and job creation, under councillor Manuel Luis Méndez Martín and Raquel Rodríguez Alonso, with the Cruz Roja, are rolling out a project, Adeje Recuperación, which has helping those in danger of social exclusion as a primary aim.  The project will see individuals working in their communities and undergoing training that is designed to meet current market needs. The work they will be undertaking will be in houses that are in need of work, and have been identified as such by the Adeje Social Services department.

Sustainability is a part of the project too, and the project participants have already been given energy saving kits. The kits include LED bulbs, analogue timers and heat insulation layers, all part of energy saving practises, leading to reductions in household costs, and increased care for the environment. These kits will also be introduced into the homes that are undergoing repairs as part of the project.

A number of workshops have been held to increase knowledge of the latest electricity tariffs and the introduction of energy and cost saving home habits.
