Adeje and the Cabildo project on encouraging women back to the workplace

The programme includes tutorials, personalised programmes, training and links to potential employers

18 january 2022
The Adeje council and the Tenerife Cabildo have begun a joint initiative, the Tajea project, aimed at helping women who are finding job seeking difficult. All women who are interested may find out more about the project and register for free at the CDTCA (the Costa Adeje centre for tourism development).

According the councillor responsible for local employment Manual Luis Méndez Martín “we have devised projects and programmes for different and diverse sections of the population, for younger people, different age groups, those with little education or training, those who are in a difficult situation socially or economically.  Each programme is a part of our overall aim which is to reach all sections of the population”:

Through consultation with the Tenerife Violeta project and departments of employment and equality the Tajea project will aim to assist those women who are in a variety of situations which might impede them finding work - women who are victims of domestic violence, migrant women who are from ethnic minorities, single mothers, those with mobility issues, women who are from rural background, transgender women, women who have been working in the sex trade out of necessity, who have been suffering from social and/or labour exclusion.

The project will include tutorials on labour orientation, personalised itineraries and attention.  There will be direct contact with companies to look at job placements, offering the women the assistance they need in looking for active employment or setting up as self-employed.   There will also be attention to personal development, digital competence, working in teams, equality of opportunities, and more.
