The Tenerife Cabildo and the Adeje council have co-funded the project to rebuild and expand the old auditorium in the Adeje Cultural Centre, work on which should be complete towards the end of next year.

This week the Adeje mayor, Jose Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, the insular cultural director Alejandro Krawietz and the Tenerife cultural councillorEnrique Arriaga visited the works to see how they are progressing.  The new structure will have two performances spaces, one for an audience of up to 500, the other for 120 spectators.

The Cabildo representatives said this was a theatre that would been the needs and demands of the borough.  The mayor said the new building was replacing a structure that no longer met the cultural needs of the borough but the new theatre, when open, would also work to generate jobs and income from Adeje as well as playing an important social and cultural role.
