Adeje’s local police expand their special training courses

“We believe this is a key element for the development and proper functioning of the security body”: Mercedes Vargas Delgado

Adeje’s local police body continue to amplify their in-house training in specialised courses, with special attention to dealing with victims included.  According to the councillor for local security, Mercedes Vargas Delgado, “we have been working for some time on a training plan for members of the local police force.  We believe this is a key element for the development and proper functioning of the security body.  Adaptation to new times, new needs and requirements is essential, so the agents need to acquire new knowledge, methods, and skills needed to carry out their jobs. This is also a positive way forward for the police in question, allowing them work towards promotion within the force, as well as personal and social development. The training also allows us to constantly evaluate the requirements of the force, and homogenise the needs of all of the operational bodies”.

In recent weeks those units who deal directly with victims of crime have been taking part in an advanced course given by Celso David Cabrera Hernández and Carlos José González Rodríguez. The aim of the course is to “actualise and adopt new techniques to improve their professional role”.  Last week too there was a course for police dogs on drug detection and projects involving nature conservation.

In some cases the courses are not just for the local Adeje police force but include members of Canarian and national forces too.
