The 28th Adeje Summer University comes to a close

251 people took part in online courses and workshops

23 july 2021
The 28th Adeje Summer University has concluded on a positive note, with the Adeje councillor for education, María Clavijo Maza and the University of La Laguna vice-rector Juan Albino Méndez, stating that both the online courses and the in-person workshops had an excellent level of participation, given current circumstances.

Overall 251 people took part, with 42% opting for an online course and 52% participating in practical workshops – the latter with limited and controlled class numbers in properly regulated spaces.

Councillor Clavijo Maza said that this year the university had welcomed people from the world of Spanish culture and sports, but also offered courses on quality of life improvement and health. She added that given the on-line nature of the courses many people outside of Tenerife were able to participate.

The vice-rector said that the summer university is “one of the ULL’s star attractions in Adeje, with an ongoing excellent partnership with the Adeje council”.

This year’s event can be labelled under the ‘optimistic intelligence’ umbrella, alluding to the content, for instance, of the inaugural address given by Elsa Punset.  This year’s summer university brought together experts well known to differnt sectors of the population - Vicky Gómez Jorge Sanz, Pedro García Aguado, and the aforementioned Elsa Punset.+
As in previous years more women then men took part in the summer school (168 women, 83 men).
