Representatives of Adeje council and water company Entemanser awarded prizes in the junior art competition held recently, with entrants using the theme of clean water. The competition was open to children in 3rd and 4th class in primary schools in the borough.
The Adeje education councillor, María Clavijo Mazo said, “The competition was useful in helping children think about the future of water, the need to care for and conserve one of the most indispensible elements of life – water. Taking part in the competition also helped them learn about the work involved in bringing drinking water into our homes with all the guarantees that are needed, and using technologies that make life easier as well as encouraging more responsible consumption.”
Pedro A Goméz, head of services for Entemanser, Adeje, was pleased at the high participation rate from the children in the borough’s schools, adding that he hoped the competition also served to make children more aware of “how our decisions and daily habits influence the evolution of environmental problems and have repercussions around the world”.
The children taking part were given online access to information about water use and clean water production. The council and the water company were very pleased at the commitment shown too by the schools involved in encouraging children to take part and learn more about the use of our natural but limited resources.
