The rally returns to South Tenerife next week

Earlier this week the Adeje School of Music hosted the announcement of details of the 30th Rallye Villa de Adeje BP Tenerife Trofeo CICAR, taking place next week along the highways and byways of South Tenerife. This is the third in the Spanish Rally Super championship this year, the second on asphalt following the one in Sierra Morena, with over 50 teams taking part. Eight of those are on their way to the island arriving on Monday.
Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga commented, “after a year without the Rally because of the pandemic we are celebrating the 30th race in Adeje. And while the name of Adeje is part of the rally title, given that the race was born and grew here, it is now seen as an international event, and something we are very proud of. I congratulate the organisers for all the work they have done and continue to do to make the event possible at the highest level. We also have to thank the Tenerife Cabildo and the other boroughs involved who make this event possible”.
The event, with restricted attendance due to Covid, was still a show of the unity between the participating boroughs, with Cabildo president Pedro Martín present, and other municipal authorities as well as Adeje’s sport councillor Adolfo Alonso Ferrera and, virtually, the president of the Royal Auto Federation Manuel Aviñó.
Pedro Martín expressed his delight at the news of the event going ahead, “events such as this one give us a sense of normality…this rally will see fans return, and we can enjoy motor sport to the full again. We, the Cabildo, and the Tenerife South town halls, are all behind the event”.
500 kilometres
In total the race will see cars cover 500 kilometres, 32% (or 154 KM) against the clock. The first race takes place next Friday evening, May 14th, following a series of trials and qualification runs that morning. The trials will be through Granadilla, Fasnia, San Miguel, Vilaflor and Arona.
