Adeje Town Hall has been awarded the Sport Quality Seal by the International Institute for Sporting Excellence (IINS). This distinction certifies the municipality’s high standards in promoting sport as a driver of social, economic, and tourism development, as well as community cohesion.
Adeje was told of the winning of the award during the FITUR, Spain's International Tourism Fair, with Adeje mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, sports councillor Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, and IINS general director María África in attendance. However, the official ceremony to receive the seal only took place during the 10th Adeje Sports Gala last weekend.
During his address, mayor Rodríguez Fraga stated: “This recognition confirms Adeje’s strategic commitment to sport as a central pillar of our public policies. It reinforces our dedication to the wellbeing of our people and certifies that sport is playing a key role in fostering community cohesion.”
The Sport Quality Seal ‘CD 1002’ acknowledges Adeje’s efforts to integrate sport, sustainability, and international outreach into its policies. The municipality is at the forefront of developing sports facilities, programmes, and events that benefit everyone in Adeje.
Adeje Town Hall currently offers a range of municipal sports schools, including dance, basketball, boxing, comparsa, climbing, football, futsal, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, ‘Playing for Sport’ (a multisport initiative), karate, pilates, therapeutic massage, tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball, and yoga.
All municipal sports activities take place in facilities managed by the council. Adeje Town Hall operates three football pitches (Adeje, Armeñime, and Fañabé), four sports pavilions (Las Torres, El Galeón, Fañabé, and Tijoco Bajo), as well as a broad network of free-use sports centres across the different neighbourhoods of the municipality.
About the seal
This distinction was created in Spain in 2015 by the IINS in collaboration with various sports federations. Its goal is to promote excellence and quality in the sports sector while combating unregulated practices and encouraging ethical, high-quality standards.
