The Adeje Town Hall has completed the renovation of the La Paloma Viewpoint after several months of work. This improvement project aimed to restore and enhance a cherished location within the municipality that had previously fallen into disuse and visible disrepair.

“With this initiative, we sought to highlight the natural beauty of the area, add value, and enhance the experience for both residents and visitors,” explained the councillor for Public Works, Epifanio Díaz Hernández. He also emphasised that “the viewpoint has been designed to be fully accessible, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the scenery and this unique experience.”

“This infrastructure has been created for the benefit of the entire Adeje community, as well as for tourists visiting the area. This natural and scenic space now allows people to appreciate a historic and highly valued environment,” Díaz Hernández added.

A Design in Harmony with Nature

The renovation focused on careful integration with the natural surroundings, respecting the natural shapes, textures, and colours of the mountain. The new accessible pathway follows the historic route along the mountainside, replacing stairs with a ramp that preserves the original terrain’s profile while maintaining a harmonious and unobtrusive aesthetic.

The pathway features a 6% incline with two rest areas before reaching the main viewpoint at the top of the mound. The first stop offers spectacular views of La Enramada beach, complete with seating and shaded areas. The journey culminates at an elevated platform whose visual boundaries merge seamlessly with the horizon, providing an unparalleled panoramic experience.

To ensure comfort, the design considers the sun’s orientation, avoiding complex or high-maintenance structures. A strategically placed railing not only provides safety but also doubles as a shading system for a linear bench located on the lower tier.

Regarding materials, deactivated continuous concrete with aggregates in tones matching the surroundings was used for the paving, achieving perfect visual integration. Lighting is provided by ground-level beacons, while railings and solar protection elements are made from exposed concrete, reinforcing the aesthetic coherence with the natural environment.
