Following the signing of Linnea Laupstad, Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa has unveiled its second winter transfer window reinforcement, Norwegian midfielder Thea Sørbo, on loan from Sweden’s Hammarby.  The midfielder was introduced during an event at Adeje Town Hall this week, and the presentation was attended by José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, mayor of Adeje, and Julio Luis Pérez, vice president of UD Tenerife as well as Adolfo Alonso, Adeje councillor for sports.

Sørbo, a full international for Norway’s national team, has been training under Eder Maestre since last week. She admitted, “I’ve only had a few training sessions with the team so far, but I already feel I’m learning a lot about a style of football different from what I’m used to. I’m very excited to keep learning every day from my teammates and the coaching staff.” The midfielder, who could make her debut in tomorrow’s match against Depor Abanca, expressed her enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to meet the fans. If I have the opportunity to play, I’m ready. I haven’t spoken with the coach about it yet, but if the chance comes, I’ll be prepared.”

José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, mayor of Adeje, highlighted the importance of Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa’s progress, stating, “The team is, for us, an integral part of our commitment to both sports in general and elite sports, which serve as an example to encourage wider participation.” The mayor also emphasised the significance of having a women's team that is in the Spanish first division team in the municipality, both as a boost for its image as a tourist destination and as part of Adeje’s commitment to gender equality and women’s inclusion in all activities.

Julio Luis Pérez, representing UD Tenerife, thanked the mayor for his unwavering support: “The encouragement we’ve received from the mayor has been fantastic, showcasing the value the club holds for Adeje.” Regarding Sørbo’s signing, Pérez explained that it is “a crucial addition to the team’s midfield, a position where we’ve been struggling due to injuries. We’re confident she’ll bring a lot to the table and help us significantly for the rest of the season.”
