5 World Cheese Awards for the Adeje cheese makers

The World Cheese Awards 2024 recently took place in Viseu, Portugal, and Adeje-based Quesería Montesdeoca reaffirmed its excellence in cheesemaking by winning five prestigious awards. The event showcased over 4,700 cheeses from 47 countries. Montesdeoca stood out, securing two silver medals and three bronze.
 
Among the awards received, the silver medals went to their Queso Curado de Vaca y Cabra con Gofio (Cured Cow and Goat Cheese with Gofio) and Queso Semicurado de Cabra con Canela (Semi-Cured Goat Cheese with Cinnamon). Meanwhile, bronze medals were awarded for their Queso Curado de Cabra y Oveja con Gofio (Cured Goat and Sheep Cheese with Gofio) and their innovative Almogrote con Cilantro y Ajo (Almogrote with Cilantro and Garlic). These achievements reflect not only Montesdeoca’s commitment to quality but also their innovation and respect for local traditions.  
 
This year, Tenerife further established itself as a leader in cheesemaking, earning a total of 15 awards, highlighting the talent and dedication of local producers including Quesería Montesdeoca,  La Guancha, Granja Las Cuevas, and Aborigen de Arafo, representing the island on a global stage.
