Adeje is hosting the 1st Illustration and Collecting Fair

The event forms part of the programme for the XXI Adeje Book Fair

24 april 2024
Adeje council’s department of education, the organisers of the XXI Adeje Book Fair, have organised the first Illustration and Collecting Fair, which takes place on Sunday 28 April, from 10am, in the Plaza de España in the town.  Admission is free of charge and the list of participants and detailed information is already available at www.adeje.es.

According to the councillors for education Coraima Afonso Navarro, and for culture Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, "the Illustration Fair of Adeje is a meeting point for the public where culture and learning come together. It will be an opportunity to give a platform to the art of illustration and the process involved in creating these works. We believe that it can be a tool to promote the social and cultural development of the population".

The Illustration and Collecting Fair is the newest addition to the Adeje Book Fair and will include work from 18 young illustrators from different parts of the island.  As well as an exhibition of their work, the artists will have the opportunity to sell to the public who will be able to see how these artists work and the process involved in the creation of an illustration.

The day will continue with a round table event where the illustrators will discuss different topics and share their ideas and concerns.  Afterwards, there will be activities for all ages.

The Illustration Fair will end with a recital and literary music performance "La orilla Dorada" by Ernesto Rodríguez Abad, creator and director of the International Storytelling Festival of Los Silos.  He will mix his passion for literature, including his own works, accompanied by voice, cello, violin and guitar. The performance will also feature works by other writers, composers, and poets.
