The organisers are working to promote the creation of a Marine biodiversity sanctuary in the region

23 april 2024
As part of the Adeje Book Fair there will be a travelling exhibition with inflatable replicas of the most representative species of cetaceans of Macaronesia as well as those that appear stranded most frequently, accompanied by activities to raise awareness about the conservation of marine life in Macaronesia.

The Canary Islands is a hotspot of cetacean biodiversity in the North Atlantic, 30 species of dolphins and whales have been described in the archipelago, making it the region of Europe with the greatest diversity of cetaceans.

This proposal aims to develop a travelling exhibition to raise public awareness of the wealth of cetaceans in Macaronesia, in order to gather support for the creation of a Marine Biodiversity Sanctuary in the region, as well as to promote the extension of the moratorium on the use of military anti-submarine SONAR in Spanish jurisdictional waters in the Canary Islands.

The exibition will be in the Plaza de España from April 24th to 28th
