The importance of health promotion and protection is part of the Adeje programme of events

7 april 2024
April 7 has been designated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as World Health Day,  highlighting the importance of taking preventive measures to promote everyone’s health and general welfare.
In the same spirit, Adeje council is making a firm commitment backed up with designated actions designed to improve the quality of life of the people of Adeje, offering a varied programme of activities that take place throughout the year, with special significance on April 7th.

Esther Rivero Vargas Adeje health councillor noted that since March 2008, Adeje has been part of the Spanish Network of Healthy Cities, an initiative of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, a network dedicated to the promotion and protection of health and the welfare of residents in accordance with the principles set by the WHO.  Subsequently, in 2018, Adeje  became one of the 308 municipalities in Spain joining the ‘Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy of the Spanish NHS’.

The Adeje mayor commented that “Adeje is committed to train, care for and protect the health of the people of Adeje, reaffirming its commitment to the empowerment of a healthier municipality".
To mark World Health Day, Adeje council has organised a programme designed to promote healthy lifestyle habits, including a series of activities during the months of April and May under four main pillars: healthy eating, emotional well-being, physical activity and social relations.

The activities will be open to all and will take place every Thursday at 6pm at the Costa Adeje Tourism Development Center (CDTCA).  There will also be activities for pupils in Adeje’s primary and secondary schools during the school day.
