The "MI abuela/abuelo” solidarity initiative has been running for 7 years in Adeje now, bringing hope to Adeje families in economic difficulties.  The main aim of the project is to ensure that no child is left without a gift this Christmas.

The councillors in charge of the initiative, Esther Rivero Vargas (health, seniors) and Raquel Rodríguez Alonso (social welfare) said that “with this project we are working to see that children don’t lose hope or illusion just because their family might be struggling financially”.   They explained that “children write a letter picking a gift they might like (from a list) and they include a drawing in the letter. This is then delivered to the department of seniors, who act as pages to Santa and The Three Kings to see the letters are delivered. “

Given the multicultural nature of our municipality, the "MI abuela/abuelo” solidarity initiative, works for both Christmas and Three Kings.

Partners
There are a number of business partners helping with this project, such as Globo Cómic, or Metroventa, which embraces this social commitment. "This philosophy is fundamental to promoting economic prosperity and social welfare," says owner Vladyslav Pozdnyakov. Another of bodies taking an active part in the project is IES Adeje, where the students have created a piggy bank in which they have been making donations that will be part of the fund.
