The council shows its commitment to the fight against this disease, underlining the importance of research, early detection and support for those who suffer from it.

Adeje council’s department of health, under Councillor Esther Rivero Vargas, is continuing to promote awareness, prevention and control of breast cancer among the population. The council works with other agencies to underline the importance of research, early detection and support for people who suffer from it.

Councillor Rivero Vargas has been working with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and the Walk for Life Foundation, supporting these organisations in the work they carry out to improve the health and quality of life of people who suffer from or have undergone a cancer diagnosis.  During the first meeting held with the AECC, specifically with the Provincial Manager of the organisation, Ana Belén Prado Prieto and the technical staff of the Comarca Sur de Tenerife, the services provided by the association in Adeje and their stability were evaluated and agreed upon.

The councillor also visited the HQ of the Walk for Life foundation where she met with the Foundation president Brigitte Gypen, and guaranteed the council’s commitment to the continuity of the services aimed at people suffering from any type of cancer, especially breast cancer.

World Breast Cancer Day

Among the actions taking place today the AECC mounted an information table at the main door of the Adeje Convento, with information for people about the services offered in Adeje by the association, and news of a workshop (in Spanish) on risk factors in breast cancer, led by Daina Valeria Garelli, psychologist and technical staff in prevention of the Spanish Association Against Cancer.  The Town Hall also hung a banner to mark the day, and the Plaza de España will be lit in pink this evening.

The 2nd Yoga for Life Festival 2023 is taking place on Saturday 21st October, at 4pm in Dzamling Gar, Playa Paraiso, Adeje. The aim of this initiative is to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer and is supported by the Walk for Life foundation and Adeje council.
