Adeje Council’s departments of Heritage and Education, under Juan Desiderio Afonso Ruiz and Adolfo Alonso Ferrera respectively, in conjunction with the Tenerife Cabildo’s education department, will carry out two actions focused on the visibility and recognition of women writers within the framework of World Women Writers' Day (16th October).

The main aim of this initiative is to highlight the diversity and creativity of women authors, as well as to recognise their contribution to the world of writing, raise awareness of the importance of female voices in literature and inspire future generations of women writers.

On  Wednesday, October 18, the Canarian Library, on the Calle Grande in Adeje, will host a series of activities from 4pm – 8pm, including the exhibition "Canarian Women Writers", word-based games, a storyteller and a craft workshop. The activities, in Spanish, are open to the general public.

On Thursday 19 October, the Refugio Reading Club is organising an exchange with female authors at the Centre for Citizen Participation and Coexistence.  On this occasion, the works "Una suerte pequeña" by the Argentinian writer Claudia Piñeiro (6pm) and "La elegancia del erizo" by the Moroccan writer Muriel Barbery (7pm) will be discussed.
