Adeje tournament recovers its international status

The 29th Adeje International Youth Football tournament will be held on August 19th and 20th in the Adeje municipal football stadium

This week details of the 29th Adeje International Youth Football tournament were presented to the press, with Adeje sports councillor Adolfo Alonso Ferrara announcing how delighted the council were that this tournament was regaining its ‘international’ status, “something that has been part of the tournament since its inception, but temporarily lost during the pandemic.  The event is now in its 29th year and is a great showcase for young local footballing talent too”, he said. 
 
The councillor underlined how important this event was across the council, as one that promotes both sport, and Costa Adeje as a tourist destination.
 
Teams taking part this year are CD Tenerife, UD Las Palmas, Real Madrid CF, Seville FC, a Tenerife selection (with players from all over the island) and Olympique, from Marseille. 
 
President of the Tenerife federation, Alejandro Morales Mansito, added. “it’s very important that institutions are there to support sport, important from many perspectives, something that is vital if we want to see sport continue to grow”.  He said he was delighted to see the competition regain its international edge, “we will be treated to some good football and it will be a great opportunity for all the players taking part”. 
 
The rules this year have seen teams in a draw to see which group they are playing in with Olympique heading up Group A, accompanied by UD Las Palmas and CD Tenerife. Group B is headed up by Seville FC, with the Tenerife selection and Real Madrid. Erick and Iria,players with the Adeje football school, drew the group lots.
 
The prices to see games will see the price per day at €3, a two-day ticket at just €5, and entry for under-16s is free, and tickets will be on sale at the football grounds.
 
Match days and times
On August 19th the matches are at 10am and 5pm, on August 20th there will be a play-off for 3rd and 4th place, at 10am, and the final will be at 12 noon, followed by the trophy presentation.
 
All games will be broadcast life on the Tenerife federation channel and on the Adeje council social networks as well as on Radio Sur Adeje 107.9 FM.
