The organisers of this year’s Adeje Summer University have expressed their “satisfaction at meeting all their objectives this year, a transitional university given the changes in the university team and the council”, said the councillor for sports and culture, Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, responsible for this year’s edition, adding that they were already preparing for next year’s university.

Isabel Karely León Pérez, the UUL vice-rector praised the collaboration between both institutions.  Given all the changes she commented that the summer university “had come of age, and “it was the time to evaluate what we have already achieved and look to where we need to go in the future”.  She added that “great advances are being made, with many women taking part, with highly motivated professors and students and the guarantee that both the university and the council are working for future editions of this summer university”.

In total there were 10 courses, 5 workshops, 3 parallel activities, with 316 participants, students and the public in general.  The overall theme of this year’s university, Artificial Intelligence, attracted great interest from the public, running through various strands of knowledge, from music to medicine, sport, health, equality, science and technology, and tourism.

The university closes this evening with a screening of the 2018 film Carmen y Lola, followed by a Q & A with the two leading actors and moderated by film critic Manuel Díaz Noda. This is taking place in the Adeje auditorium Sala Contemporánea, from 8.30pm, and entry is free.
