Remembering customs and traditions will be at the heart of the XII Taucho Ethnographic Days, from June 22nd to 25th, as part of the Taucho Fiestas in honour of La Virgen (Our Lady) de Coromoto.  Full details of the programme of events can be found on the Adeje webpage, www.adeje.es

The first Ethnographic days were celebrated 12 years ago, from an idea expanded by residents in Taucho, remembering and marking days gone by.  Over the years the annual event has grown and has become an integral part of the local celebrations in honour of La Virgen de Coromoto.

The activities will start on Thursday June 22nd with an evening event paying homage to those who have taken part in fiestas over the years, followed by a theatrical performance and music from the Rondalla Santa Ana.  On Friday June 23rd there will be music from 4pm, an ‘invite’ card game tournament, and from 10pm a street party with music from Mesturao and Toque Latino.

June 24th has activities for the children of the village, with performer Olga Turuleta, and bouncy castles. During the day the public are invited to see local craft demonstrations and a classical car event.  Traditional bread making in the afternoon will be followed by the dances from the past, a visit to the old-style public laundries, etc.  On Saturday there will be a procession in honour of ‘Nuestra Señora del Socorro’ and dancing with Toque Latino and the Dorada Band

Sunday there is an art event, and then at 11am the Imoque Cultural association will host a performance reflecting the customs and traditions of the past, in particular the 1950s and 1960s, reflecting the fashion and life of those days in Taucho, the food, farming, and the effects of emigration.  There will be mass at midday, and a procession in honour of La Virgen de Coromoto, and later that evening the fiestas draw to a close with the opening of the Cantina de Manito y and dancing to music from Grupo Relieve.
