A volcanic window in the Atlantic!

Talks to reduce risks in the event of an eruption

13 june 2023
Involcan, the Canarian volcanic institute, is hosting a talk in Adeje on "Canarias una ventana volcánica en el Atlántico 2023" (Canarias, a volcanic window in the Atlantic 2023)

This programme grew out of a need to inform and educate the people living in the Canary Islands as to the different dangers associated with volcanoes, one of the fundamental activities in any emergency plan designed to assist in the event of a volcanic eruption, and part of the planned activities of a civil protection body created to assist during an eruption, known as PELVOLCA.

Through the information programme the public will also learn the actions different public bodies and individuals can and should take to reduce the risks associated with volcanoes. Overall the aim is to present an educative programme that leads to Canarian society being as prepared and organised as possible in case there is a volcanic event.
The programme of talks and activities are co-financed by the Tenerife Cabildo and ITER, the renewable energies institute, and developed in conjunction with the Spanish Volcanic Association (SVE) and the Canarian Association of Volcanology (ACANVOL) as well as the 31 boroughs that are hosting the various presentations.
