This morning, Monday April 3rd, the Adeje councillors for sports and for youth, Adolfo Alonso Ferrera and Carmen Lucia Rodríguez del Toro, presented the programme of sporting activities that will be taking place around Adeje in the coming months.

Both councillors agreed that “sport is the perfect tool for improving quality of lives and it is also a great promotion for our destination, with the sports/tourism combination which we have been co-promoting recently opening up a new range of possibilities for the borough. “

The first big activity is on April 8th with the Tenerife beach football tournament which will be held on Torviscas beach, the first of its kind in Tenerife. The tournament will be for younger teams, organised by the FIFT, the Tenerife Inter-island football federation who asked Adeje to host the event.

On the same day the Colegio International Costa Adeje is hosting the Estrella de Aura rhythmic gymnastics tournament, which last year saw over 130 athletes from nine different countries take part. The tournament is for younger gymnasts to encourage them to look to an athletic future.

On April 15th a solidary event is taking place, the "Adeje Espacio Joven Cup" in the Las Torres Pavilion, organised by Adeje Espacio Joven. This is a football 7s tournament, with money raised going to children’s cancer charities. 16 teams are taking part and there will also be raffles, fun games and challenges and live music. Each team members will be asked to pay €3 to register, and the team t-shirts have been designed by children currently in hospital with cancer. Entrance is free and there will also be a raffle for tickets to see Rauw Alejandro. The target amount is €2,000.

On April 22nd the FIFT are staging the first inclusive league which will see adapted indoor football competitions throughout the year as well as beach football. These events will take place all over the island, in Adeje in the El Galeón pavilion.

On April 22nd Torviscas beach will be hosting a beach rugby event. This is a new event for Adeje, and is part of a series of beach rugby days promoted by the Tenerife Cabildo, in categories M10, M12, M14 and M16.

April 22nd and 23rd will see the VII Martial Arts Open in Adeje, with a variety of disciplines (Jiu Jitsu, Karate, Judo, Kempo, Aikido, etc), all taking place in the Las Torres Pavilion from 10am to 2pm.

From May 11th to 14th the Canarian pre-infants basketball championship will be held in the Galeón, Las Torres and Tijoco pavilions, with 16 participating teams from the seven islands.

In June the borough will host the Fabrice Pastor padel cup in the Activate Sports club, and will see competitors at regional level, with some subsequently going forward to a second tournament in August, the APT Padel Tour. The Rallye Villa de Adeje is on from June 29th to July 1st, and, as in previous years, will see drivers compete for points at national level.

July 1st is the date for the veterans’ football tournament, bringing together players and teams from different islands, organised by the Águilas club and the Adeje department of sports. Las Torres pavilion will stage a boxing exhibition evening on July 14th organised by Sandro Domínguez and his club DINAMITA.

The XI Ibero-American karate championships will be held in Adeje from July 20th to 23rd, an event organised by the Karate world federation and on July 30th CD Espiritu Triabona is holding Cross Golf Costa Adeje.
