Parishes and associations prepare for the Stations of the Cross

From March 13th to 17th five parishes will be part of a religious tour

The 'Porteadores de la Virgen' collective and the parish priests of Adeje, working with the council, have organsied the first village-tour of the Stations of the Cross in the borough. The event takes place between March 13th and 17th, with the statue of Jesus of Nazareth visiting Tijoco-La Hoya, Armeñime, Los Olivos, Fañabé and Adeje town.

Under the theme "The way, the truth, the life", the religious route will begin on Monday when the statue of Jesus of Nazareth leaves the Santa Úrsula parish church and be brought to Tijoco Bajo, making three stops corresponding with three stations of the cross, which will happen in each parish, on the way to the Tijoco La Hoya parish church. The day will end with the participation of the Impoue folk group and a collective communtiy coming together in the plaza. 

On Tuesday the statue travels to Armeñime, with a processional walk from the school zone to the church, with three more station of the cross stops on the way.  Wednseday it is the turn of Los Olivos, with the procession from the roundabout to the San José church.  On Thursday Fañabe will greet the statue at the football grounds and walk to the church and the Adeje Patronal Band will accompany the procession.

On Friday the statue returns to the Adeje parish church, with the procession from the Plaza de la Cruz del Llano to the church accompanied by the San Juan band from La Orotava.

Saturday will mark the beginning of the Easter programme in Adeje with the official proclamation reading, at 7pm in the Adeje convento. This year the readers are José Antonio López Delgado, who has played the part of Jesus Christ in the Adeje Good Friday theatre over many years, and Miguel Ángel Navarro Mederos, a heritage representative from the diosece.
