The Adeje councillor for tourism, Adolfo Alonso Ferrara, has reported very positive returns from the visit of the Costa Adeje delegation to this week’s ITB, the International Berlin Tourism trade fair. He says the indications are for recovery in the German market this year, with numbers already nearly at pre-pandemic level.
“The projected growth in the German market is solid, and we are hearing from some tour-operators that bookings are already above 2019 levels. The German tourist is always looking for destinations with a good range of activities, nature alternatives, and different kinds of places to stay, the kind of varied offer we have in Tenerife and of course in Costa Adeje. We have already seen many of our businesses change and adapt to new needs too, and we are seeing improved numbers already”, commented the councillor on his return from the trade fair.
Following meetings with various airlines, the councillor said the pattern of recovery was continuing, and that at the moment there wasn’t a need to look for an increase in airlines covering the routes, it was “sufficient to confirm that those routes in existence were well served and at accessible prices”.
Germany is one of the countries badly hit by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and a high number of Germans who like to travel have delayed buying airline tickets or overnight stays abroad as they watch the current situation evolve. This is affecting the market with more people booking at the last minute; however we are still seeing a high return among German visitors to Tenerife and Costa Adeje.
