Erasmus students from German, Türkiye, Belgium, Italy and Ireland were in Adeje’s historic town centre this week, visiting as part of their week-long stay in the borough, linked with the El Galeón secondary school and the Los Olivos primary school.

The visit to the town saw the students spend time in the Convento of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St Paul, the Santa Úrsula church and the Casa Fuerte (Fort House) where they were able to learn more about the town, it’s historic roots, and how it formed part of the evolution of the island of Tenerife. They were accompanied by members of the Adeje council, and the visit was in Spanish and English.
The theme of the visit of the students was ”From idea to reality” and looked at different cultural disciplines – paintings, sculpture, music, etc.

The participating primary education centres were: Gorey Central School, Wexford, Ireland, Nisan Ortaokulu, from Ankara, Türkiye Go Bs Driesprong, Maldegem in Belguim, IC Villaggio Prenestino from Rome, in Italy, and CEIP Los Olivos de Adeje.

Councillor for heritage, Juan Desiderio Afonso Ruiz, noted that “these kinds of visits to the town’s historic centre are part of our overall patrimony project, as we are working to give visibility to the value of our cultural heritage and let people find out more about the historical riches that Adeje has. The success of the project is in the interest that the schools and Erasmus students have shown in getting to know this part of the town.”
