The day, on February 2nd, also celebrated the patron saint of the Canary Islands

The Armeñime festival commission has been working on preparing local celebrations for Día de la Candelaria. The patron saint of the Canary Islands is also the patron of this part of Adeje. The programme of events includes cultural and religious activities, both in the local church and in the Plaza del Guanche. All events are taking place on February 2nd, which is also a bank holiday in Tenerife.
Activities begin at 10am with bouncy castles for younger residents. At 7pm there will be a mass in honour of the patron, and a procession accompanied by’ Los Porteadores de La Virgen’. At 8pm there will be events bringing neighbours together, with live music as well.
