Adeje is preparing for the first weekend of the two weeks’ long fiestas in honour of the borough’s patron, La Virgen de la Encarnación. There will be a Gala concert on Friday October 7th with David de María, and a youth concert with PtaZeta on Saturday ,and events paying homage to the Patron on Sunday October 9th. Events continue for through the following week, ending with the Romería on Sunday October 16th.

The Gala on Friday will see the representatives of all the different neighbourhoods of Adeje presented to the public – and it has always been the tradition that Adeje does not pick a queen for the annual fiestas, but celebrates each part of the borough, with the chosen representatives acting as ambassadors for their region. After the Gala event the first street party is taking place, with music from Wamampy and Sensación Gomera.

On Saturday there will be a concert with Gran Canarian rapper PtaZeta, but before that there will be music in the streets with the Adeje Patronal Band who are also celebrating their centenary. They will be in the Plaza de la Cruz del Llano at 6pm, followed by a procession to the Plaza España and that night’s street party will move to the music of Maquinaria.

Sunday is one of the most relevant days of these fiestas, dedicated to the borough’s Patron, La Virgen de la Encarnación. At 6.30pm the official council banner is brought to the church, followed by mass and offerings. When mass is finished there will be a procession with the statue of the patron through the streets of the town, accompanied by the army Nº2 Brylcan XVI band.

After the religious events on Sunday the Plaza España will enjoy an Elvis concert with the Adeje school of music performing, and the Tejina and Toke Latino bands will help people celebrate into the wee hours.

Monday October 10th is a bank holiday in Adeje, so there will be lots of activities for children, with a play park in the municipal football grounds in the morning, music from El Cardón in the Calle Grande at midday, with mass later on in the day and a procession, and fireworks (low acoustic). To end the evening there will be a concert with Cristina Ramos and Benito Cabrera.

Events continue until the Romería on October 16th and the full programme in English can be read online here: https://townhall.adeje.es/?noticia/4543/2022-local-fiestas-adeje
