Giving the approach of a strong weather front this weekend, Adeje council and water company Entemanser have working to clear drains and pipes to avoid as many flood points in the borough this weekend.
The teams are worknig to avoid blockages in gutters that would mean that excess water and waste could flow directly towards the sea.
There are a number of zones identified in Adeje is particularly criticil, including the coastal path along the Bahía del Duque, by Fañabe beach, water pump zones in Callao Salvaje, Duique 2, La Pinta, Playa Paraíso, and other areas in Fañabe.
While this work is carried out all year round the teams are putting in the extra effort required today in the event of heavy rains this weekend as predicted by the Spanish weather service. The regional government has issued a maximum weather alert.
The public are asked to always place rubbish and cigarette ends in the proper recepticle. One cigarette end can contaminate 50 litres of water with toxic substances.
