Second bar worker course being organised by Adeje council

70% of those who completed the first course are now in paid work

19 august 2022

Adeje council will start the next course in training for bar and restaurant assistants on August 22nd.  The first course of this kind, run in July of this year, was a 45 hour theory/practical course based in the restaurant in the CDTCA, with 16 students all of who were unemployed and on the Adeje padrón when the course began.

The awarding of diplomas for those graduating from the first course took place recently in the presence of Raquel Rodríguez Alonso, councillor for economic development and job creation. Addressing the students she stressed the importance of training in the sector with many hotels now actively seeking workers with qualifications or those who have completed specialised courses. She added that Adeje council was continuing to work to offer this and other training courses.
For the new course they are looking for people living and registered in Adeje with an interest in working in the hostelry sector and willing to learn the ropes, and with an ability to work with the public. Professionals from the industry will be offering training sessions during the course too.
Following the completion of the previous course various hotels in the borough expressed interest in contracting those who had recently qualified and 10 people were hired directly from the course.
