Los Olivos is celebrating in style

The fiestas are in honour of the Vigrin del Carmen and San José

The Los Olivos fiestas are taking place from July 10 to 19, returning to the streets after a two-year pause due the pandemic, in a neighbourhood that has experienced some expansion in recent times.  "Los Olivos exemplifies the economic, social and popular development of Adeje," explained the mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga.
 
As with all the local Adeje fiestas the full programme of events is available online, www.adeje.es.  In Los Olivos activities begin on Sunday, July 10 with mass and then the official proclamation of the start of the festivities, to be given this year by Antonio Jesús Trujillo González, one of the ‘Hermanidad del Santísimo’ and someone who is very much part of the development of the zone.  On the same day the candidates for election of the children's and youth queen will be presented and there will be a performance by the brass wind section of the Adeje School of Music.
 
On Tuesday, July 12, following mass, three will be a procession with the statue of La Virgin del Carmen from La Viña to the San José de Los Olivos church.  This is one of the most colourful events of the festivities, and will be accompanied musically by the chácaras and drums of the Garajonay group and singers.  Wednesday, July 13 is sports day, with an exhibition of different sporting disciplines at 8.30pm, capoeira, and the aerial dance group Volátikas.
 
On Thursday July 14th at 9.30pm the children’s queen will be chosen and the candidates this year are Aneudy Delgado Robles, Daylis María Perez González, Lia Pimienta Gómez, Lorena Oliva Tarife, Valeria Trujillo Estévez and Yoselin Orvich Cano, followed by the magician Juan Rizzo. 
 
The gala queen selection will be on Friday, July 15 at 9.30pm, candidates are Aitiana Martín González, Chloe Hernández Filali, Chantal González Campi and Nayara Rodríguez Bermúdez.  There will be a performance from dance group Feel the Moment and singer Cristina Ramos followed by music from Crater Duo.
 
Saturday July 16th is for all the family, from 10am, with bouncy castles, face painting and crafts. There will be mass at 8pm and a procession accompanied by the Adeje Patronal Band, followed by a fireworks display and music from The Latin Brothers. 
 
Sunday morning will also be for the children, with water castles, interactive games and foam party and later on that evening it’s comedy with José Luis Calero and a show entitled Mi Gran Noche. The Boleros de Armeñime sing mass on Monday July 18th and the fiestas end on July 19th as the statue of the Virgin del Carmen returns to La Viña accompanied by the music of Garajonay.
