For the tenth consecutive year Adeje council is joining Earth Hour, a global initiative sponsored by World Wide for Nature, celebrated on the evening of the last Saturday in March with lights being switched off all over the world in private and public buildings, and the people of Adeje are invited to join in.

The outer lighting on many municipal buildings will be turned off from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on March 26th, and in certain areas lighting will be reduced, bearing public safety in mind. Street lighting will not be affected.

The lights will be turned off in the Plaza de España,  Troya  and  Fañabé beaches, the exterior of the Farmers Market, the exterior of the municipal sports centres, cultural centres, the exterior of the department of Health, the CDTCA, and there will be reduced lighting in public parks.

The overall aim of the international campaign is to contribute to an overall reduction in carbon dioxide and help in the reduction of light pollution.
