Mental health activities starting under the “MENTALÍZATE” label

Expert advice leading the project comes from the University of La Laguna

The post-pandemic Adeje mental health Project “Mentalízate” has, as its main aim, the creation and offer of resources for the local population to deal with any mental health issues that have arisen during the pandemic.  Training activities have now begun under the guidance of experts from the University of La Laguna. 
 
On March 2nd at 6pm there will be a workshop on dealing with your emotions, with participants learning how to access the tools they may need to deal with emotional issues arising, feelings and sentiments.  The workshop is being led by Doctor Rosario Marrero Quevedo, from the ULL’s Department of clinical psychology, psychobiology and methodology.   (Registration is here:

The next event in the series of activities is “Barriguitas”, a workshop for pregnant women from the 4th month of gestation.  The workshop will include information, pelvic floor exercises, and preparation for delivery. Women will learn some sensory tools to help during the pregnancy and there will also be demonstrations of tummy massages. Pregnant women can attend alone or with their partners.  The workshop will be led by Mon Peraza and held in the La Postura Cultural Centre on Friday 4th, 11th and 18th of March. In parallel the Mentalízate Project will also hold its first talk, with psychiatrist Eduardo Vera Barrios, for secondary school students from Los Olivos school, discussions will focus on the importance of talking about and recognising mental health issues, frustrations, anxiety, and apathy – things that young people have been experiencing since the start of the pandemic.
